Waterbury Reservoir Proposed Rules, Option III,


A.   Vessels powered by motor shall not exceed five (5) miles per hour or create a 
     wake in two zones of the lake as follows:

(i) The first zone includes the two bays at the east end of the eastern arm of the Waterbury Reservoir on which the Waterbury Center Day Use State Park is located, and a portion of the Reservoir westerly of the western point of the peninsula between those two bays to a north-south line 200 feet west of the tip of said point, as indicated on Map 1 and (ii) The second zone is located in that portion of the northern arm of the Waterbury Reservoir northerly of the natural narrowing at the southern end of the northern arm, just southerly of the boating beach at the Little River State Park, as indicated on Map 3. (iii) Both 5 m.p.h./no-wake zones shall each be clearly marked by two-three buoys. (iv) Exemptions to the limits in these controlled zones may be made when authorized for special events by the Department of Public Safety under 23 V.S.A. Section 3316(a), with up to a maximum of five special events per year being so allowed, and with a maximum of two days being allowed for each such event.

B. A maximum of two water-ski slalom courses may be located in the lake as follows: (i) One slalom course is allowed approximately 2500 feet north of the southern end of the 5 m.p.h./no-wake zone in the northern arm, indicated as Course #1 on Maps 3. Only a vessel while using the course for the purpose of water skiing may exceed the 5 m.p.h./no-wake limits. (ii) One slalom course is allowed in the high-speed use area of the reservoir located either: (a) south of the Little River State Park in the southern arm of Waterbury Reservoir, indicated as Course #2 on the Maps, or (b) just west of the Blush Hill boat access in the eastern arm of the Reservoir, indicated as Alternative Course #2 on the Maps.
